lyrics
SUNGLASSES
I said the day I left this town,
I knew that I would make it.
But it’s not so great, when it’s on a plate.
You know, I kind of hate it.
I’m everything that you think I am.
I'm the boy next door and I’m Superman.
But don’t you read the biography,
then think you’re on to me,
'cause you'd be wrong, you see.
Now these days everything gets to me.
I needed some anonymity.
So I went home to be on my own,
but now they're all singing my song at me.
Got my sunglasses on,
'cause everybody knows me.
I got my sunglasses on,
'cause everybody knows my name.
Some days I feel I can carry on,
I know my left from my right and my right from wrong.
Then someone in the vicinity say's I’m not into me,
then it’s all gone for me.
Now I can’t be who I was before.
And I can’t be who I am anymore.
And these sunglasses are all that passes for some place I can belong.
Got my sunglasses on,
'cause everybody knows me.
I got my sunglasses on,
'cause everybody knows my name.
When I came back to this town,
I knew I’d have to fake it.
But every day, in every way,
I feel like I am naked.
Got my sunglasses on,
'cause everybody knows me.
I got my sunglasses on,
'cause everybody knows my name.
